Silver Age Beyond
The Mahyah Nostra Guild hides underneath a thin veneer of their official role as a scavenger’s within the Shoqëri Guilds. They are often referred to simply as “Scavers”. They maintain a monopoly on the recovery of Second Republic artifacts and technology and will often restore derelict artifacts when no-one else could.
Beneath all of this the Mahyah Nostra are in fact the largest crime syndicate in the history of post-humanity. After all if you’re going to have crime, it might as well be organised. The Scavers Guild have learned to provide goods and services where all the other guilds have either failed to supply or simply failed to find a legal means of providing. The Mahyah Nostra are racketeers, information brokers, hit men, street thugs and casino sharks.
The Mahyah Nostra also have a unique talent for finding their way into everyone’s business. If not actually intruding on their monopolies they find ways of providing for them. Whether it’s spare parts for the Ingenium, cheap goods that fell off the back of a starship for the Shofar Hornblowers or the kind of protection that only several large men with big guns can provide, the Mahyah Nostra are there to cater for these needs.
The Shoqëri Guilds now own three worlds within the Galactic Imperium, having lost Parapet to House Amatsukami during the Primacy Wars. Each of these worlds is ruled by a collaboration of guild interests, although roughly speaking, the Mōnstrum dominates Bhonnaich business, the Mahyah Nostra and Hornblowers control Madog enterprises, and Guild Arius Money Dealers and the Ingenium are preeminent in Guildheim dealings. In addition, the Shoqëri Guilds hold interests on many worlds – indeed, no world of the Star Imperium is without a Guild presence – and they possess a co-ownership of Kargonde with House al-Yazata. The guilds, both minor and major, work their patents and schemes more or less autonomously, although all are subject to the council of deans on Guildheim, led by the Guildmeister.
