Silver Age Beyond
Zoa is a warm temperate planet with dense forest covering the majority of its great landmass. Forty percent of the planet’s surface is fresh water, and there is very little surface water with a high salt content. A great salt well exists at the northern pole of the planet surrounded by a ring of mountains. This feature has led to the speculation that one of the three moons of Zoa was formed due to high impact collision many millions of years ago.
The flora and fauna of the planet often present colors of reds and blues with very little yellow due to the nature of the home star’s radiant saturation. Bugs and reptiles on the planet’s surface are larger than those on Earth due to the higher concentration of oxygen in the atmosphere. The planet’s primary genetic families are florian and insectoid and it’s least prevalent is mammalian. There are also a fair number of chimera species, some natural, some engineered, that are considered stable. The majority of these chimera species are of lizard and florian decent.
There are two sentient races on the planet: Lifari, a long lived plant based bipedal creature; and Furbolg, a bipedal mammalian race with arachnid racial adaptations. Many of the beasts on Zoa are hybridized species between plant and animal, a few are mammalian, and there are no reptiles. The majority of the planet’s beasts of burden are insectoid, because the insects of Zoa range in size from Earth’s gnat to the approximate size of a horse.
